LUEUR, light-reflecting textile
Brigitte Guillet for Act3, seeking a distributor
ACT3 is a French luxury weaving factory which uses a sustainable development approach by bringing in women from the prison environment. For over 20 years it has been using its skills to meet the demands of the luxury sector in the fashion and interior design environments.
With her experience as an industrial textile designer, Brigitte Guillet is striving for the balance between modernity and traditional textiles working for human beings and their environment. Since 2007 her creations have been part of a wider project called “weaving fireflies”, which is an examination of materials and biolighting…
The LUEUR textile’s innovation rests in its gentle touch, which is pleasant and easy to maintain (something which is currently rare in light-reflecting products). It is a high quality furnishing fabric in white linen and which may be available in organic cotton.
It loads up with daylight then at the end of the day reflects ambient lighting thanks to its retro reflecting thread. At night it gives off a light that shows the grain of the material thanks to its light reflecting thread.
This fun material may have a wide range of applications, whether for interior design or to help children and elderly people drop off to sleep …
When design steps in: this collaboration dynamic will enable the creation fields that have already been explored by the company to be expanded to strengthen its image by emphasising its skills and sense of innovation.
What about the environment? Linen and organic cotton are the fibres which currently have the least impact on the environment. The use of retro reflecting threads and luminous threads enables the room to be lit without any energy source.
